1. Who we are
steambanner.com is operated by Næve Utvikling og Media, organisation number 927 824 043 MVA, Trondheim, Norway (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at patrick@nightmarestudios.net. Purchases are made from Polar Software Inc. as merchant of record, which charges and remits VAT / sales tax in your country and issues the receipt. By using the service you agree to these terms. If you use it on behalf of a studio or company, you confirm you may bind that company.
2. What the service does
You give us a public Steam store link or a written brief, optionally with images. We assemble a prompt from that material and send it, together with your images, to a third-party image model (currently OpenAI's image API) to render Steam capsule concepts, refined banners and Steam asset kits. Results are shown in your browser and saved to your account. See How we use AI for exactly what is sent where.
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Valve Corporation. Steam is a trademark of Valve Corporation. We read only publicly available store-page data.
3. Your account
Sign-in is through Google. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your Google account secure. You must be at least 18, or the age of majority where you live. One person, one account: the free preview is limited per person, per device and per network, and creating accounts to get around that is a breach of these terms.
4. Credits and payment
- Pay & Go is a one-time pack: $3.49 for 250 credits. Credits do not expire.
- Premium and Max are monthly subscriptions (Premium $9.99 a month for 2,500 credits each month; Max $24.99 a month for 10,000 credits each month). The first billing period adds the plan's credits. Every later period resets your balance to the plan's credits (it is never lowered, so credits bought as packs or a higher leftover are kept, and unused plan credits do not accumulate). Credits already on your account remain yours after cancellation. Cancel any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and nothing further is charged.
- Launch price. Where a plan shows a regular price and a lower launch price (Premium $9.99 instead of $15.99, Max $24.99 instead of $39.99), the launch price is charged for every renewal for as long as that subscription stays continuously active. If you cancel and later resubscribe, the price current at that time applies.
- Credits are spent per action: unlocking a sheet (250), refining a direction (150), rolling a new set (250) and building a Steam kit (500). Prices in credits are shown before you confirm and may change for future purchases; credits already bought keep their value in credits.
- Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred between accounts and cannot be exchanged back into money, except where the law requires a refund.
- If a render fails on our side, the credits for that action are returned automatically. If a render succeeds but you dislike the result, the credits are spent: the model is generative and outcomes vary, which is why the first sheet is a free preview.
- Right of withdrawal (consumers in the EU, EEA and UK). You have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase without giving a reason. Before every checkout we ask you, in a separate tick box, to request immediate delivery and to acknowledge that for a credit pack the right of withdrawal ends once the credits are delivered. The time of that consent is recorded on your order (visible on your account page and passed to the payment provider with the receipt). Without that consent no checkout starts. For a subscription, the first month is a service that starts immediately at your request: if you withdraw within 14 days you receive a refund reduced in proportion to the credits used. To withdraw, use the withdrawal form or email us; we confirm by email. A pack bought by mistake with no credits spent is refunded on request as a matter of goodwill regardless of the above.
- Statutory remedies. None of this limits your rights if the service is defective (for example a render you paid for was never delivered): those rights under Norwegian and EU consumer law apply in full and are separate from the change-of-mind rules above.
- Payments are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record and issues your receipt or invoice. We never see your card details.
5. Your content and your rights to it
This is the part that matters most. Please read it properly.
- You keep ownership. Logos, screenshots, character art, descriptions and anything else you upload or link (“your content”) remain yours. We claim no ownership.
- You confirm you have the rights. By uploading or linking content you confirm that you own it or hold every licence needed to (a) upload it to us, (b) have it processed by automated systems including third-party AI models outside your country, and (c) have derivative marketing images made from it. This includes art made by contractors, artists on your team, purchased asset packs and fonts. If a licence does not allow AI processing or derivative works, do not upload that file.
- Steam pages. When you paste a Steam link you confirm the page is your own game, or that you have the developer's or publisher's permission to make marketing concepts for it. Do not use the service to make banners for games you do not represent.
- Licence to us. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, resize, transmit and process your content, and to send it to our AI provider, only as needed to run the service for you and to keep it safe. The licence ends when the content is deleted. We do not use your content to train models, we do not sell it, and we never show it publicly as an example without your written permission.
6. What you get back (outputs)
- Outputs are yours. As between you and us, you own the images the service generates for you, including the right to use them commercially on Steam and anywhere else. We assign to you whatever rights we hold in them.
- No uniqueness guarantee. Generative models can produce similar images for similar prompts, and copyright protection for AI-generated images varies by country. We cannot promise an output is unique or protectable.
- You check before you ship. You are responsible for reviewing outputs before publishing them: rendered text, likenesses, resemblance to other games' art or trademarks, and anything else a reasonable art director would check.
- Disclosure. Steam's content survey asks developers to disclose AI-generated assets. Images from this service are AI-generated; disclose them wherever Steam or another platform requires it under its rules at the time, and check Valve's current guidance (or Steamworks support) for store-asset cases. That is your responsibility.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use the service to create or attempt to create:
- images that infringe someone else's copyright, trademark or publicity rights, including banners for games you do not own or represent;
- sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises minors, under any circumstances;
- realistic depictions of real people without their consent, or content intended to deceive about who made it;
- content that promotes violence against, or hatred of, people based on protected characteristics;
- anything unlawful where you or we are located.
Do not scrape, reverse engineer or overload the service, resell access, or bypass the free-preview limits. Our AI provider also applies its own usage policies to every request; a request it declines is not a fault on our side, and credits for it are returned.
8. Availability and changes
The service depends on third parties (the image model, hosting, payments, Steam's public pages). We aim for high availability but do not guarantee it. We may change models, prompts, sizes, prices and features. If we discontinue the service, we will give at least 30 days' notice and refund unspent credit packs bought within the previous 12 months.
9. Warranties and liability
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits or lost sales. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Termination
You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account from the account page (or by emailing patrick@nightmarestudios.net). We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms; in that case unspent credits are forfeited only where the breach was deliberate.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Consumers in the EU/EEA keep the protection of the mandatory rules of their home country. Complaints: write to patrick@nightmarestudios.net first; we answer within 14 days. Consumers in Norway who are not satisfied can bring the matter to Forbrukertilsynet (the Norwegian Consumer Authority) and, if unresolved, to Forbrukerklageutvalget. Consumers elsewhere in the EU/EEA can use the alternative dispute resolution body in their own country.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes are announced on the site or by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after that date means you accept the new terms.
